Milwaukee has Carpenter Ants in the Winter

Will White here with Nexus pest solutions. with another edition of questions were asked when we’re out in the field. And today’s question is, it’s wintertime? Why am I finding carpenter ants in my home? And I gotta tell you, that’s a very, very good question. Carpenter ants found in your home during the winter simply means this, you definitely have a carpenter and problem in your home. Now, where’s that Ness located in the home, we’re going to kind of determine that by what you’re seeing. So first tip is is if you find any ants, on a sunny day, during the winter months, you know where it’s sunny. But the answer is sluggish and slow moving those ants, those carpenter ants are on an exterior wall, and that wall is heating up just enough to get that nest active. So that you will, you know, you’ll start seeing some on the inside. Now, if you’ve had a problem all summer long, and all fall long, and all winter long that nest is on an inside wall. And and you will know because the ants will be active, they won’t be slow, you’ll see them and they’ll have the speed and, and dexterity of ants during the summer months. So if that’s what you’re seeing, the first thing you need to do is check closet doors, bedroom doors, any hollow core door in the house, sometimes you can find them even in the if you have those pull down blinds with the cardboard tubing, you can find them inside of there. And this is only if these and you look for the you got to be looking for the answer in that instance, if the answer active during the winter, if they’re slow, they’re just going to be on and out if then that problem will be contained to an outside wall. But either way, you know, if you haven’t a problem with carpenter ants, you can give our office a call.
